Dr. Peter O. Simon, Jr. is a board-certified vascular and interventional radiologist with advanced training across surgery, vascular and interventional radiology, and neurointerventional radiology. He is the founder and Medical Director of Carolina Endovascular & Interventional, an independent, physician-led practice dedicated to delivering advanced minimally invasive care in a high-quality office-based environment.
Dr. Simon received his medical training at premier academic institutions and completed rigorous postgraduate training that spans general surgery, vascular and interventional radiology, and neurointerventional radiology. This multidisciplinary foundation provides him with a comprehensive understanding of both open and minimally invasive approaches to complex disease, allowing for thoughtful procedural selection and patient-centered decision-making. His clinical expertise includes embolization therapies, peripheral arterial disease, venous disease, spine interventions, and image-guided treatments for complex vascular and oncologic conditions.
Prior to founding Carolina Endovascular & Interventional, Dr. Simon practiced in hospital-based and hybrid academic–private practice environments, where he treated a high volume of complex cases and worked closely with multidisciplinary teams. Throughout his career, he has held leadership roles on multiple hospital and practice committees, contributing to quality improvement initiatives, clinical operations, and strategic planning. His leadership experience reflects a consistent focus on safety, efficiency, and evidence-based care delivery.
Notably, Dr. Simon has served as a principal investigator and leader for clinical research trials—an uncommon role in private practice settings. His involvement in clinical research underscores a long-standing commitment to advancing the field of interventional medicine and maintaining fluency in emerging technologies and techniques. This research background continues to inform his practice philosophy, emphasizing data-driven care, outcome measurement, and continuous improvement.
After years of working within traditional hospital systems, Dr. Simon founded Carolina Endovascular & Interventional to offer a different model of care—one that combines academic-level rigor with the accessibility, efficiency, and personalized experience catered to the comfort of the patient and client. This setting allows procedures to be performed in a purpose-built environment designed for patient comfort, streamlined care, and the highest clinical standards, often resulting in shorter wait times, lower overall costs, and a superior patient experience.
Raised in a military family, Dr. Simon grew up in North Carolina, Colorado, Georgia, and Germany. These experiences shaped his appreciation for structure, adaptability, and service, values that continue to influence both his clinical approach and leadership style. He ultimately returned to North Carolina to build a practice grounded in those principles and to serve the communities he now calls home.
As Founder and Medical Director, Dr. Simon remains deeply involved in patient care while also overseeing the clinical, operational, and quality initiatives of the practice. His goal is to provide patients and referring physicians with a trusted, high-value destination for advanced, patient-centered interventional care—delivered with clinical excellence and thoughtful, individualized care.
